Year 7 Geography Field Trip – June 2016
8 Jun 16
Up to their knees in it…. June fieldwork on this occasion with Year 7 geographers: studying rivers and landforms around (and in) the lower course of the Deben at Ufford just down from the White Lion (not that this was an important aspect of the day…). The gradient of the river with a clinometer and field poles; river velocity with poles, corks and a stopwatch; a cross-section with tape, meter rule and poles; river load with sampling of the size and shape of the material carried; field-sketches of a meander, river cliffs, deposition, erosion and vegetation/wildlife; and paddling to cool off (aha!). Happy days; happy memories…
The teachers (and pupils!) look forward to the write-ups and presentations in the very near future…
