Under 19 Chess Tournament Semi Final 2015

Tuesday 20 January saw the schools National Under 19 chess team travel to Southend High School for Boys for the regional semi-finals of this prestigious competition. One of the great things about chess is that age is largely irrelevant, and we fielded 6 players from Year 13 to year 7. In the end the team scored a convincing 4-2 victory, with wins for captain Justin T, Anthony Y, Taisei T and crucially, after a game lasting one and a half hours, Hugo K. The two games we lost were long and very close affairs, so congratulations also to Lai C and Harry R for their performances. The zonal final will take place before half term but as of yet the opponents are unknown.
