Year 7 Geographers travelled to the river at Ufford earlier this week, a distributary of the river Deben.
Featuring all the characteristics of a river in the lower course students stood on the floodplain and identified the meander with its river cliff and slip-off slope.
Despite it having been a very dry spring, and the hot weather we’ve been experiencing lately, the students were able to get into the water to take some measurements of gradient, velocity, cross sections and sediment.
In the next few lessons, students will learn different data presentation techniques to illustrate all the things they investigated and encountered.
Many thanks to Miss Gill for organising and managing the trip, and to Mrs Saagi for helping out with transport and assistance.
