Focusing on work with breath, the body and projection, last week’s Vocal Masterclass held by our Head of LAMDA, Mrs Lockwood, provided Scholars and Enrichment students with the opportunity to learn and practice techniques aimed at improving confidence and performance. Sharing his thoughts from the day, Year 10’s Seth tells us more in his report.

Year 10’s Seth
“As always with Mrs Lockwood, who is incredible as a teacher and instructor, this workshop made no exceptions and was wonderful from start to finish!
We focused on work with breath, the body and projection; exploring voice going into different cavities, of which we learned there were five, we spent a lot of time looking at and discussing how this would be used to our advantage on stage.
After this, Mrs Lockwood gave us some exercises to ‘ground us’ which most definitely will help us all, roughly 20 of us, feel connected to our bodies, the space below us and, of course, the space in front of us.
As well as this, we also learnt to convey certain emotions, motives and leads; of course, we will be carrying this all into our drama department work in the future from this first excellent workshop!”
