A Performance That Takes Flight in ‘Chitty Chitty Bang Bang’

Years 5 and 6 took to the stage in our Seckford Theatre this week for the much anticipated Prep School production of Chitty Chitty Bang Bang. Bringing this beloved story to life, the children transported the audience into a world where an extraordinary car can fly, villains are outwitted, and most importantly a family triumphs over adversity.

The cast embraced their roles with confidence and real character as eccentric inventor Caractacus Potts, along with his children Jeremy and Jemima, and the spirited Truly Scrumptious embarked on their quest to save the once famous car from falling into the hands of the sinister Baron and Baroness of Vulgaria.

There was humour and drama with a malfunctioning haircutting machine and the scary appearances of the Child Catcher, but best of all were the memorable musical numbers, especially the Bombie Samba, performed with wonderful choreography with the Year 5 choir bringing extra energy to all the songs.

What shone through in each performance was the teamwork and dedication of everyone involved. From the cast on stage, the choir in the stalls and the backstage crew to the staff who masterminded the production, it was clear to see the hard work and commitment that has gone into the rehearsals.

What a joyful and uplifting performance of this miracle of modern mechanics. Chitty Chitty Bang Bang – we love you!
