Junior French Trip Report from Year 8’s Juno

19 Sep 25

Having spent time in Boulogne, France last week, our Year 8 students returned from their Junior French Trip at the weekend.

Some of their activities included visiting the Nausicaa, going to le marché à Guînes wto buy ingredients for a French picnic lunch, and visiting la boulangerie in Escœuilles for a demonstration on bread making and a free pain au chocolate!

The entire trip was brimming with opportunities for our Year 8s to immerse themselves in the language and culture, and you can hear more about it in our report.

Year 8’s Juno

On Thursday 11 September, most of Year 8 woke up before dawn to take a coach to France.  Some were a bit tired, others were a bit nervous, but everyone was excited!

When we got to Folkestone, the bus drove onto a train for a quick journey under the sea to France.

Our first stop was Nausicaá, an aquarium, where we saw stingrays, sharks, jelly fish, and other strange and exotic fish and sea creatures.  We also watched the big blubbery sea lions being fed, doing tricks, and bellyflopping up onto the rocks. We all thought they were very funny

One of the best parts of the trip for me was seeing how bread was made at the boulangerie, which was amazing.  I also enjoyed tasting the freshly baked pain au chocolat we were given – it tasted délicieux.

All the activities were so different to what we have done before as a group at School or on trips.  Learning how to juggle and play aéroballe (which is like basketball but on a trampoline) was challenging but fun.

Merci beaucoup to the teachers for taking us on this trip!  We all really enjoyed it
