Meet Mo

Nigeria Year 13

Mo joined Woodbridge School in Year 12, studying A level Maths, Physics and Economics.

Woodbridge School appealed to me with its array of activities and vibrant community. After having my tour and being impressed by the wonderful facilities around the School. I enjoy the community created from everyone living together, it’s always a lively and positive environment, and there’s never a dull moment!

Everyone comes from such different backgrounds and they each foster different opinions. One of the most positive aspects of being a part of boarding house is that you all learn to accept people for who they are, which is great to see and experience.

There are definite advantages to boarding, especially of living in the School grounds. My day starts with a 7.30am alarm followed by a cooked breakfast with lots of different options. Apart from this obvious perk, my day in School isn’t so different to everyone else, I’m up, showered, dressed and ready for breakfast by 8.00am. By 8.40am I’m in School – the boarding house sits inside the grounds, so it’s a very short walk down the driveway and into my first classroom of the day. My School day ends at 4.15pm like everyone else’s, and so I usually return to School House and unwind until around 5.30pm when all of us have dinner together. Around 6.30pm I’m sat at my desk ready for prep and work on homework and other elements needed for School until around 8.00pm. There’s always a meeting at this point to check in with everyone, make sure we’re OK and then we set about enjoying some free time where you can finish work, talk with friends or if you’re like me, play pool with my friends. At 9.00pm I’m usually back in my room and have time to myself to relax, ahead of getting ready for bed at around half ten.

Clearly focus on School work is important, but it’s also equally important that we have time to relax. There is always plenty to do either at after School clubs, or playing games in School House. Recently I got to play a pool tournament against my fellow boarders. Naturally I won, seeing as I’m the self-proclaimed best in the School – it was really fun having a friendly competition between us. It was also very enjoyable eating my victory chocolates afterwards!

Boarding can be so much fun. You’ll make friends that will be with you through different stages of life – and probably beyond School. It’s also a great opportunity for new experiences, so I would say go for it – consider boarding, especially at Woodbridge School.

In the future I hope to attend a university and pursue my Master’s after my A levels. This would hopefully lead to a career in finance, ultimately I’d like to work in the Public Sector in Nigeria.

Any queries?
