Meet Fenna

Germany Year 12

Fenna joined Woodbridge from Germany, studying A level Art, French and Psychology.

I am studying A level Art, French and Psychology, and have enjoyed boarding so much I have just recently made the decision to extended my stay to enable me to study as a member of the Sixth Form.

What I like most about Woodbridge School is, as a relatively small boarding house, it feels like a home-from-home, like a family. That is also the reason I chose the School – I wanted to know that I would be supported, not only while studying in the School, but while living there too.

There’s always a wide variety of things to do, places to see and visit, and people to go to for support, help or just friendship. I think my favourite memory so far is the day we spent at Southwold, a quintessentially British seaside town; we spent a day by the sea and it was brilliant fun.

What I love about Art here at Woodbridge School is the wide range of opportunities available. From drawing and painting to sewing and so much more, there are endless creative options to choose. This freedom lets me be truly creative and to try many new techniques and ideas, which I find very inspiring. I also really appreciate is the fantastic support provided by the art department. Mr Hutch and Mrs Chapman-Ross are always there to guide and encourage me throughout the makings of my work, offering helpful advice and support which I really feel helps me create my best work.

I really enjoy breakfast together, we have some time to sit, eat and chat before our School day starts, it’s a really nice way to start the day. Our School day finishes at 4.00pm and afterwards we walk back to the boarding house where we usually take some time for ourselves, either relaxing, talking to our family on the ‘phone or just getting prepared for the next day at School. Supper is at 5.30pm, and we all eat together and talk about what our day has been like, it’s a part of the day I really look forward to.

After supper we spend time doing our homework and studying. Then at around 8.00pm, we can either spend time together, watch a movie, go for a walks and explore the town of Woodbridge, or simply socialising before we go to bed.

It’s so beautiful in Woodbridge, and so safe. I often enjoy going for a run along the river Deben in the town, there are always lots of people around and the town is welcoming and friendly – just like the School! I have never met so many kind and welcoming people in one place, everyone here genuinely looks out for each other.

There’s lots of support here in terms of your journey beyond School, and through that I recently discovered the field of international relations which I find particularly interesting – it might be something I go on to pursue.

Any queries?
