Meet Charlie
Moving to the UK from Abu Dhabi, Charlie joined Woodbridge School in Year 8.
The boarding house feels like home; Mr Gunn and all of the other teachers who work there are so nice, supportive and friendly – we have chats about everything, not just School, and I feel like they really care about me.
I’m currently studying towards my GCSEs, including French, Classical Civilisation, French en plus (intensive French), Computing, Drama and Art. I also love Football and often talk to Mr Gunn about it, it’s great sharing my passion with him, we talk about the game and the players – and how I’m getting on with the sport in School.
A typical day means waking up ahead of breakfast; the School day then begins and I look forward to lunchtime particularly. I don’t just love the food here – it’s amazing – but at lunchtime and after School I can play Football with my friends, and represent the School in competitive matches.
After School as well as Football I can chill out with my friends, we go to supper together, I get my homework and prepare for the next day in School before playing sports and other games with my roommate. There’s so much to do and so many people to share the day with – it’s excellent.
It’s a little too early to know exactly what I want to do in the future, but I know I’ll be able to get the information, support and guidance here. We have our own Careers department, and our teachers help us to investigate our options. We have Old Woodbridgians come into the School to talk about their different career paths, about the support they had to get where they are – I feel confident that when it comes to the time I need to start considering my future options carefully, I will get all the help I need.
As well as playing Football, I’m also part of the School’s Basketball team. There are over 100 co-curricular clubs students can choose from, so there’s something for everyone. I love playing sports, but I’m sure there’s so much more I’m going to get involved in!
