The GCSE Art course at Woodbridge School begins with a series of practical workshops that broaden students’ observational and analytical drawing skills. Sculpture Day extends this experience into three dimensions, encouraging students to transform observation into form while exploring materials and processes that may inform future Personal Investigation projects.

Drawing upon the principles of observational drawing, students were challenged to create sculptural responses to a range of everyday objects, including flowers and foliage, cosmetics, tools and footwear.

By closely examining shape, structure, texture and proportion, students developed increasingly sophisticated outcomes.

The workshop fostered resilience, creativity and experimentation, demonstrating how careful observation can be translated into imaginative and accomplished sculptural work – and be quite beautiful too.
