Go Ahead Given for Plans to Redevelop Queen’s House and The Abbey
Following the Planning Committee’s unanimous decision, the Foundation is very pleased that Suffolk Coastal District Council has given the go-ahead for our plans to redevelop Queen’s House, enabling us to improve and increase facilities at The Abbey, Woodbridge School’s preparatory department. The project will enable us to bring pupils from Queen’s House and The Abbey together on one site from September 2018, offering an enhanced educational experience for all pupils from nursery to Year 6. The addition of a nursery will mean children can join Woodbridge School from age three.
The plans include a new multi-purpose activity hall and astroturf sports pitch as well as refurbishment of the school’s buildings and classrooms. Vehicle access and pedestrian safety will also be improved around the school entrance on Cumberland Street.
The nursery will be an expansion of the existing music wing at The Abbey, and will have its own separate entrance and parking. Music rooms will be part of the new activity hall.
We are confident that our plans are a positive step forward for Woodbridge School and we look forward to an exciting future.
